Will Biking Help My Gut?

I am 27 years old, 5'6" and weigh about 165lbs. I have a gut that I MUST get rid of. I used to be in good shape back in H.S. and College due to athletics, however, due to my own laziness/work, I have since abandoned all forms of athletics pretty much, and now am left with this nasty gut. I just recently started biking about 20-30 minutes a day at a resistance level of 6, riding for about 4-6 miles give or take. Will this help me lose the gut, or am I only building leg muscles? Does lifting (curling, benching, etc.) help at all in the fat burning process?Thanks in advance!
