Evangelicals and the stay-at-home mom?

Why do Evangelicals get some kind of amnesia about the woman staying at home and raising her children when one of them is running for V.P. They now try to say that is not one of their holier-than-though beliefs. Meanwhile I just had one tell me a few months ago how horrible it is that woman no longer stay at home to raise their children. I tried posting this in the Religious section and of course everyone got amnesia and claimed I must have been talking to someone in the media.
