Bikes similar to Mission Bicycles or Republic?

I've been looking for a new bike, and I'm not a serious biker by any means! All I'm looking for is something customizable, comfortable, affordable, and trendy. I won't be using it too often, but I do live in a hill-y area. I've heard awful reviews for Republic Bikes and several bad ones for Mission Bicycles- however- I do love the convenience of customizing online and the array of colors! I also love the fact that both are unbranded on the frames of the bikes. Basically, I'm wondering if anyone knows of any better companies to buy from that are similar, but better quality and hopefully inexpensive! Any input will be helpful!
